“Throw me into the lives of people who need You. I don’t want to watch. I want to help.”

That was, and that is, my prayer. And a big part of why The Walk means so much to me. As we all retreat into isolation and live through social media, we lose authentic connection. And for some, that can literally be life or death. I love the idea of strangers discovering how much alike they are. Particularly once we all set aside our carefully manicured online profiles and really open our hearts to each other. We can be standing right beside someone who looks fine, but is one breath away from completely falling apart.

A lot of my life is spent in front of cameras surrounded by elite athletes, incredible dancers and professional cheerleaders. And every day the stakes are high. Every game, every event, every venue brings pressure to perform. I want the people around me to know that when we are out of the spotlight, I am someone they can turn to. Someone who will pray for them. And give them a safe space to be themselves. Even if it means we fall apart together.

For us, The Walk is an open door to be who you really are. Created in the image of God. When you put on a sweatshirt with your own QR code and tell the world around you your story, you give others permission to do the same. You’re saying “hey, I’ll go first. This is me. Not the filtered, cleaned-up perfect me searching for another like. The real one, searching for true, genuine connection.”

The world is so hungry for authenticity. I truly hope you’ll join us and become a part of our mission: to spread the healing love of Jesus Christ to a hurting world.
